Stevan is a lawyer and consultant with many years of experience in representing media and telecommunications service providers, as well as entities engaged in copyright collective. He also represents clients in banking & finance, IP and various types of disputes and advises them on all corporate and commercial matters. Apart from traditional law practice, Stevan was engaged in several European Union projects where he gave lectures on media regulations and professional standards to media service providers. Stevan has adeptly guided clients through some of the most intricate IP disputes, and media law issues, mitigating potential reputational and financial risks with precision and acumen.

Experience
  • Represents UFUS AFA Zaštita (collective society for filmmakers) in a groundbreaking dispute against "SERBIA BROADBAND – Serbian cable networks" d.o.o., pertaining to the unauthorized rebroadcasting of numerous films. SBB, a prominent cable television and broadband internet service provider in Serbia, operates under the umbrella of the United Group, a leading media and telecommunication operator in Southeastern Europe. In a significant development, one of the initiated proceedings resulted in a favourable outcome for our client, UFUS AFA Zaštita, securing compensation amounting to 5.5 million EUR while in another case covering a different period, the court awarded $ 3.5 million to our client.
  • Provided extensive legal support throughout filming of 52 feature films spanning the years 2022, 2023, and 2024, filmed by Telekom Serbia, Pink Media Group and Apollon Media
  • Represented Organisation of Phonogram Producers of Serbia regarding several lawsuits which tried on a number of different grounds to contest the right of OFSP to charge compensation, among others, that the right to charge for the use of phonograms can be exercised individually, but in all cases final judgments were in favor of OFPS, which prevented the possible mass filing of lawsuits against client.
  • Supported TronIT, Oktacron and Binary Consulting, Serbian IT companies, in the application for the innovative Serbian tax incentive, “IP Box”, which is a tax relief related to corporate income tax, created specifically for start-ups. To be able to use these incentives, a start -up must file a registration of IP rights for its patent, invention, or software. Since this legislation is new, Stevan has helped clients during the complete process starting from the IP registration to the preparation of the complete documentation for the tax incentives and relief submission.
  • Engaged by the Council of Europe (CoE) to assist the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM) in writing 20 rulebooks on fulfilling the obligations of electronic media. The CoE is currently implementing the action “Protecting freedom of expression and of the media in Serbia (PRO-FREX)", aimed at enabling institutions and civil society in Serbia to meet reform agendas in line with European standards. The PRO-FREX action is part of the joint programme of the European Union and the CoE “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye” running from 2023 until 2026.
  • Represent Pink Media Group, one of the largest South European media corporations, in a dispute against 12 reality show participants over the breach of the reality show participation contracts (confidentially clause, behavioural issues, arbitrary abandonment of the reality etc.).
  • Represent BASK Prestige (in bankruptcy) and UniCredit bank in the proceedings against the company BASK Invest in order to determine the ownership rights of the Prestige Hotel. The value of the dispute is EUR 5,000,000.00. Advised clients on all aspects of the matter including drafting all necessary court documentation, analysis of the related legislation, strategic advisory, representation in the proceedings before the court, etc.
  • Engaged in representing the client before the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Committee for the Resolution of Disputes Relating to the Registration of National Internet Domains in dispute regarding the right to registered national domain. The client registered the domain www.skoda.rs for the needs of his business. However, the Škoda car company requests the transfer of the said domain, claiming that the registration of the domain under that name infringes its intellectual property rights.
  • Represent the owner and director of Pink Media Group, Željko Mitrović, against Serbian politicians Dragan Đilas and Savo Manojlović in a number of mutual lawsuits they initiated against each other, in relation to the alleged defamation and personal reputational damage caused by dissemination of the untrue information in the media. The aforementioned procedures also have a broader social significance, since once the final verdicts are reached they will serve as a precedent and a new judicial practice regarding the permissibility of publishing personal or other types of information that can lead to defamation and personal reputational damage.
  • Represent Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media  before the Constitutional Court regarding the Initiative for the assessment of the constitutionality of the provisions of Article 126, Paragraph 1 of the Law on Electronic Media, which prescribes that the mandate of the members of the Council (a collegial body that manages the work of the REM) expires within one year from the entry into force of the new of the law.
