The weakening of quarantine measures in Uzbekistan

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, quarantine regime continues in Uzbekistan. However, at the moment, the country is gradually weakening some of the quarantine measures.

Thus, the Republican Anti-Crisis Commission, in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, decided to allow subjects of certain spheres and businesses in a number of areas, including construction markets, major car services, notaries and others, to resume activities starting April 25. At the same time, it has been reported that enterprises and organizations that resume work must comply with the established mandatory requirements and sanitary-epidemiological rules. It is also noted that the heads of enterprises and organizations are responsible for the health of their employees.

Moreover, from May 11 in Uzbekistan, districts and cities have been classified according to quarantine levels. In particular, districts and cities are divided into “green”, “yellow” and “red” levels. A “green” level is in effect in the areas, where the infection has not been detected or patients have fully recovered. A “yellow” level is in force in cities and areas, where there remain patients undergoing treatment. At the same time, in all other regions having continuing increase of infections, the “red” quarantine level has been established. Depending on the development of the epidemiological situation, the quarantine levels will be reviewed.

In addition, on May 13, there was held a video conference led by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, on measures to further mitigate quarantine requirements while maintaining a high level of vigilance, a phased revitalization of economic sectors, increasing employment and incomes of the population.

On May 15, the Republican Commission extended the quarantine measures, as well as an enhanced procedure to counteract the spread of coronavirus infection until June 1, 2020.

It has also been announced that, from May 15, a number of activities are allowed in Uzbekistan.

In the “red” quarantine level, technical maintenance of automobiles and agricultural machinery, repair of electronic devices (computers and household appliances) and mobile devices, rental and leasing services, as well as accounting services are allowed.

In the "yellow" level, in addition to the types of activities listed above, there are allowed real estate activities, advertising and marketing activities, activities of parks and recreation areas from 09:00 to 20:00.

In turn, in the “green” regions, in addition to the types of activities listed above, the activities of open sports stadiums with artificial turf (subject to the restriction of the number of visitors, without the use of locker rooms and shower rooms and maintaining social distance), computer (scanning, copying, recruiting text, printing) and printing services, museums (with a limited number of visitors and maintaining distance), veterinary services and maintenance of buildings and landscapes e work.

At the same time, according to the decision of the commission, flights will resume from May 18 and trains will start running from the capital to a limited number of cities and vice versa.

Moreover, the Republican commission decided to gradually ease the quarantine restrictions on the use of a personal car from March 18.

In regions with a “green” quarantine level, citizens can use their own car around the clock.

In the "yellow" regions it is allowed to move around without permissive stickers from 06:00 to 22:00, while being limited to 4 people in the cabin.

In the “red” regions, citizens will be able to use their personal car from 07:00 to 10:00 and from 17:00 to 20:00 to travel to and from work, to buy medicines, medical supplies and essential goods.
