Uzbekistan acceded to the 
Chisinau Convention

The President signed the Law “On Accession of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Convention on Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Matters (Chisinau, October 7, 2002).

The Chisinau Convention includes various forms and types of mutual legal assistance, the procedure and conditions for its provision, mutual recognition and enforcement of court decisions. Per the document, persons in custody, their lawyers or legal representatives may file complaints about the application of the preventive measure and the extension of its term to the court or other competent institution of the requesting party. The list of grounds for refusing extradition has been expanded. The non-use of the death penalty of an issued criminal in his "homeland" is prescribed if such a punishment is not applied in the country that issued him.
