President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the law “On Personal Data”.
In accordance with the Law, personal data is information recorded on an electronic, paper and (or) other material carriers, relating to a specific individual or enabling it to be identified.
According to the Law, the State Personalization Center under the Cabinet of Ministers is an authorized state body in the field of personal data.
The provision of personal data to government bodies is free of charge.
Databases of personal data are subject to registration in the State register of personal databases.
The state guarantees the protection of personal data.
The disclosure and dissemination of personal data are not allowed without the consent of the individual or the presence of other legal grounds.
The law comes into force on 1 October 2019.
