reduced in Uzbekistan

The current laws On competition and On natural monopolies will be combined into one direct action law On protection of competition. Uzbekistan has been consistently implementing measures aimed at reducing state participation in the country's economy. According to the Antimonopoly Committee, over the past 3 years, the number of operating business structures has increased by 25%, the gross value added created by all sectors of the economy amounted to 88.8% of total GDP and grew by 5.1%.

The monopoly of large enterprises in the market of building materials, cable and wire products, and the market for money transfer services has been eliminated. As a result of the ongoing transformations over the past 5 years, the number of monopolistic enterprises has more than halved.
