In Uzbekistan the terms of issuing a residence permit have been shortened

The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted the Resolution No. 7 dated January 7, 2023 “On Amendments and Additions to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated September 20, 2020 No. 593 "On measures to simplify the procedure for registration of foreign citizens and stateless persons in the Republic of Uzbekistan” in connection with the improvement of legislation in the field of granting foreign citizens states of the right to obtain a residence permit in the Republic of Uzbekistan” (the “Resolution No. 7”).   

As part of simplifying registration procedures for foreigners and stateless persons, the Resolution No. 7 provides for the introduction of an automated electronic system “E-Chet el fuqaro”, which allows foreign citizens and stateless persons to obtain a permanent residence permit in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Moreover, the Resolution No. 7 shortens the period during which a permit for foreign citizens and stateless persons for permanent residence is considered and issued:

  • On the territory of Tashkent and the Tashkent region, issuance period from 128 to 68 working days, and period for consideration from 11 to 8 working days;
  • On the territory of Karakalpakstan and in the regions, issuance period from 98 to 68 working days, and period for consideration from 10 to 8 working days.
