GRATA International held a Bishkek Legal Hackathon 2019 jointly with AUCA

On May 6-7, the new campus of the American University of Central Asia (AUCA) hosted Bishkek Legal Hackathon 2019, the first legal hackathon in the Kyrgyz Republic. The event was organized by AUCA and GRATA International.

The hackathon was attended by 10 teams, which included law and IT students, practicing lawyers and software engineers, as well as representatives of marketing, design and other areas. The country’s leading lawyers and IT entrepreneurs acted as speakers and judges of the hackathon.

In 24 hours of continuous work, all teams managed to develop and present to the judges the prototypes of their legal tech products, including constructors of legal documents, solutions for unifying and digitizing identity documents, a website for legal assistance to foreign students and even an online game in the quest genre to enhance legal literacy.

The winner of Bishkek Legal Hackathon 2019 was the Ala-Too team, which presented to the judges an online platform for litigation financing. The team was able to show the relevance of their product, a sustainable business model and also demonstrated a working prototype of their website.

Kanat Seidaliev, partner and director of GRATA International offices in Bishkek and Dushanbe, acted as a judge at the hackathon. Lawyer of the Bishkek office of GRATA International, Meder Akeneev, acted as a moderator for this event.
