Uzbekistan

The Ministry of Finance signed an agreement with the International Finance Corporation (hereinafter referred as IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, to provide consulting services to Uzbekistan on structuring and competitive bidding for a public-private partnership (hereinafter referred as PPP) project for the construction of a 1300 megawatt combined cycle gas plant in the Syrdarya region. It was noted that the successful implementation of this PPP project would increase the stability of electricity supply and allow more efficient use of natural gas.

This project is part of IFC’s broader efforts to support private sector investment in Uzbekistan’s energy sector. Currently, IFC in Uzbekistan manages an investment portfolio of us $ 58 million. The main investments are concentrated in the financial industry and the textile industry.
