A corruption rating of governmental bodies and regions will be launched in Uzbekistan

On 27 July, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a meeting to discuss the ongoing work to reduce the shadow economy. In that regard, the President has instructed to develop a methodology for calculating the rating of corruption and the shadow economy for state bodies, enterprises and regions.

The results of this rating with an assessment of the personal responsibility of all directors will be publicly available starting in 2021.

In addition, the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan has been instructed to launch an information portal for public procurement to ensure transparency in this area and strengthen public control and competition. Starting from 2021, all projects implemented at the expense of centralized funds will be subject to anti-corruption expertise.

Responsible authorities shall develop “road maps” to combat corruption in each specific area and direction, prevent corruption in public procurement and investment projects.
