Baizhan Bekzhanov is a Partner in Natural Resources team of GRATA International. He focuses on energy and natural resources, M&A, labour law and dispute resolution.
Baizhan has an extensive experience advising international and domestic clients on issues related to subsoil use regulation at deals on acquisition of subsoil use assets in Kazakhstan. He has a great experience in undertaking and supervising work for mining, oil and gas and services companies, including CNPC and its subsidiaries, North Caspian Operating Company (operator of Kashagan, the world's largest oil discovery of the last 40 years), Sinopec and its subsidiaries, Kazatomprom and its subsidiaries, Severstal, Nord Gold, Polymetal.

- Advising Polymetal on its $600 million acquisition of Bakyrchik Mining Venture;
- Advising Kazatomprom on its acquisition 25%+1 share in Ural Electrochemical Integrated Plant;
- Advising (as Kazakh local counsel) Nord Gold, an international low-cost gold producer, a unit of Russian steelmaker Severstal, on the $1 billion IPO on the London Stock Exchange;
- Advising (as Kazakh local counsel) Nord Gold in respect of the US Notes Offering for $500 million at the Irish Stock Exchange;
- Advising Cammex (Kazakh large gold producer) on its $200 million sale to Verniy Capital and Kazzinc;
- Advising NCOC (operator of Kashagan, the world's largest oil discovery of the last 40 years) on corporate and regulatory matters, state inspections, environmental disputes;
- Representing CNPC Aktobe Munai Gaz in its environmental disputes in Kazakhstan;
- Representing Sinopec Engineering in its tax and custom disputes in Kazakhstan;
