
GRATA International China Office’s Managing Partner and Head Dr. Gulnur Nurkeyeva, and Partner Mrs.Akzhan Sargaskayeva, served as arbitrators at 6th Annual IAC Central Asia Vis Pre-Moot 2025, as part of the Young Eurasian Arbitration Week (YEAW2026), hosted by the AIFC Court & IAC and organized in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Commerce Commercial Law Development Program, and White & Case LLP, with the support of the American Chamber of Commerce in Kazakhstan.
This year’s competition was held in person and online. 60 university law student teams registered to participate. 24 teams from 17 countries were selected to compete in the preliminary rounds. The students represented top global and regional universities from the US, UK, France, Poland, Spain, and throughout Eurasia.
In their arbitrator roles, Dr. Gulnur Nurkeyeva and Akzhan Sargaskayeva upheld the highest standards of international commercial arbitration, rigorously evaluating the performance of competing law student teams and oralists from across the globe. Beyond fair adjudication of the moot rounds, they provided tailored, practical guidance to the young legal professionals-offering key insights on crafting persuasive arbitral arguments, refining oral presentation techniques and responding to arbitral panel inquiries, sharing on-the-ground expertise forged from years of advising on high-stakes Sino-Central Asian cross-border disputes.
As a core part of GRATA International’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of arbitration talent, the China office’s participation in the Vis Pre-Moot underscores its dedication to advancing international dispute resolution practice, and fostering the growth of young legal professionals who can navigate the unique nuances of cross-border arbitration between China, Central Asia and the broader Eurasian region.
