Monterey College of Law Students Gain Firsthand International Legal Expertise from GRATA's Partner

For two consecutive years, students at the Monterey College of Law in California have benefited from the international legal insights of Ikbal Said Alauddin, a Managing Partner of Hukuk Consulting, the Associated Office of GRATA International in Turkmenistan.

As a guest lecturer during the summer sessions of 2024 and 2025, Ikbal presented in the International Commercial Law course taught by Professor of Monterey of College of Law. Drawing from his extensive experience advising multinational clients and handling complex cross-border legal matters, he provided a valuable non-U.S. perspective on the practice of international law.

“Ikbal offered our students an eye-opening look into the challenges faced by U.S. clients working across international borders,” says Professor. “He engaged students in discussions ranging from contract terms and dispute resolution to obtaining legal advice from foreign counsel.”

The sessions were attended by second- and third-year law students preparing to practice law in California, both domestically and internationally. In addition to answering numerous legal questions, Ikbal also mentored a small team of students in a simulated international business project based in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

Students praised the clarity and practical relevance of his sessions.

Professor expressed the gratitude for the collaboration: “We are deeply appreciative of Ikbal and GRATA International for bringing international law to life in our classroom. We hope to welcome him again in future semesters.”
