Overview

Baigalmaa Purevsuren joined GRATA International Mongolia LLP in 2024. Before the GRATA, she worked as a development practitioner and in-house lawyer in development agencies and a mining company. Baigalmaa completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in law at the School of Law of the National University of Mongolia. 

She has been doing multi-disciplinary research on the economic, social, and cultural impacts of mining projects in Mongolia and mining and environmental law since 2015. She developed her Master’s dissertation on the adverse social impacts of mining-related projects on local communities and compensation practices in the country.

Baigalmaa worked as a team member of a working group developing “Social Impact Assessment (SIA) guidelines and procedures at mining and related infrastructure projects” with technical support from the School of Geography and Environment, the University of Oxford. She has several publications, including “SIA in Mongolia: Development and Trends “– A Book chapter of Routledge studies of 2021.

After joining the GRATA, Baigalmaa has been actively engaged in various projects, gaining substantial expertise and knowledge, especially in the practice areas of Commercial contracts, Employment, Public Registration of Legal entities, Criminal and Civil Law Proceedings, and drafting legal documents.
