
On 11–13 June 2026, Bishkek hosted the 2026 Forum of the Association of Law Schools of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). Partner of GRATA International in Bishkek Nurlan Kyshtobayev participated in the event and delivered a presentation during the plenary session.
The Forum was held in anticipation of the SCO Summit, which will take place in the Kyrgyz Republic in 2026. The event brought together legal scholars, academics, researchers, representatives of leading law schools, government authorities from SCO member states, and representatives of the SCO Secretariat.
During the plenary session, Nurlan Kyshtobayev delivered a presentation on the acquisition of mining projects in the Kyrgyz Republic. His report focused on a comprehensive legal analysis of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions in the mining sector, addressing key legal considerations related to the structuring and implementation of such projects.

The Forum also featured presentations by representatives of the Northwest University of Political Science and Law (China), Xi’an Jiaotong University, Qingdao University, Kutafin Moscow State Law University (MSAL), Saint Petersburg State University (SPbU), Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE University), the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA), Altai State University, Saratov State Law Academy, L.N. Gumilev Eurasian National University, Far Eastern Federal University, the Academy of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as judges of the CIS Economic Court and the Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Delegates from Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Belarus, and Azerbaijan, together with international experts from France, discussed current issues of international law, regional security, legal cooperation, and collaboration within the SCO framework.
The Forum served as an important platform for professional dialogue and the exchange of experience among academic, research, and legal communities. Its work is aimed at strengthening cooperation among specialized universities of SCO member states, advancing legal education and legal scholarship, and developing practical recommendations to support the Organization’s objectives in the fields of education and research.
