GRATA International Partner takes part in the 14th Annual European Data Protection & Privacy Conference

GRATA International Partner and Director of Almaty office, Saule Akmetova, takes part in the 14th Annual European Data Protection & Privacy Conference. The forum takes place in Bruxelles, Belgium on 26 March.

The conference discussed industry-specific questions and challenges in applying GDPR that exist in practice. Privacy regulations raise implementation issues, problems, uncertainty, questions among businesses, and compliance issues. The privacy regulator develops specific guidance to help data controllers and operators, including SMEs, comply with GDPR. Data protection authorities are open to working with companies on compliance, and support from authorities is a priority over bringing to liability.

During the conference, Saule Akhmetova shared the Kazakhstani experience and discussed with participants the Kazakhstani privacy regulations, the national data protection authority's approach to applying the law, and meeting the Kazakh privacy framework to European adequacy requirements.

The event gathers key European and global policymakers, industry and civil society to explore key opportunities and challenges shaping the data privacy field. This year’s program focuses on supporting innovation within robust privacy standards amid growing regulatory complexity.
