Timur Berekmoinov, Partner at GRATA International, participated in the 14th International Anti-Counterfeit Forum 2026

On 28 May 2026, the 14th International Anti-Counterfeit Forum 2026 was held in Astana at the Astana International Financial Centre with the support of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

The Forum traditionally serves as one of the key platforms within the Eurasian Economic Union for dialogue among government authorities, businesses, rights holders, and the expert community.

The Forum focused on the digitalisation of intellectual property, the use of artificial intelligence technologies, consumer protection in e-commerce, combating the illicit circulation of goods, and improving mechanisms for the protection of intangible assets and brands.

The event brought together representatives of EAEU member states, international organisations, businesses, academia, and industry experts to discuss joint approaches to ensuring market transparency, protecting intellectual property rights, and developing effective mechanisms to combat the illegal circulation of goods.

The Forum was held in two formats: a quiz competition for a broad youth audience and a team case championship featuring national teams from EAEU member states.

Timur Berekmoinov, Partner and Head of the Intellectual Property Department at GRATA International, participated as an expert for the national team of the Republic of Kazakhstan. As a result of the competition, the Kazakhstan team secured first place.

Against the backdrop of rapid technological development, business digitalisation, and the growing adoption of artificial intelligence, intellectual property issues are becoming increasingly important. The protection of trademarks, copyrights, patents, and other intangible assets plays a vital role in business development and maintaining a competitive advantage. Particular attention is currently being given to the regulation of intellectual property in the field of artificial intelligence, which is actively discussed at both national and international levels.

We would like to thank the Forum organisers for the high level of preparation and for creating an effective platform for professional dialogue among government authorities, businesses, rights holders, and the expert community. Initiatives such as this promote knowledge sharing, discussion of emerging challenges, and the development of practical solutions in the field of intellectual property protection.

We congratulate the national team of the Republic of Kazakhstan on its well-deserved victory in the case championship and wish the team continued success in advancing and promoting best practices in the field of intellectual property.
