Aigerim Bikmaz Speaks at the International Forum of Economic Cooperation in Minsk

On September 11, 2026, Aigerim Bikmaz, Partner at the international law firm GRATA International (Ankara office), Co-Founder of BETA Law Office, Master of Commercial Law, and PhD Candidate, took part in the International Forum of Economic Cooperation “Partnership Without Borders: New Growth Opportunities – 2026”, held in Minsk as part of the celebrations marking the 959th anniversary of the city.

As part of the “Minsk and Partners: Business Geography” session, Aigerim delivered a presentation entitled “How to Properly Build Business Relations with Türkiye: Three Practical Principles for Foreign Businesses.”

In her presentation, Aigerim shared practical insights on how foreign businesses can effectively approach the Turkish market. She highlighted three key principles: relying on local professional expertise, defining the business objective before choosing the appropriate legal or business instrument, and developing effective communication and an understanding of the local business environment.

Aigerim also addressed practical aspects of working with Turkish counterparties, including corporate and group structure, verification of signatory authority, counterparty due diligence, and the use of additional security mechanisms such as parent company guarantees. She emphasised the importance of involving local professional advisers at an early stage, before potential legal or commercial disputes arise.

Another focus of the presentation was the importance of choosing a market-entry model based on the company's actual business objectives. Depending on the specific goals, foreign businesses may consider establishing their own company in Türkiye, working with a strong local partner, or localising production.

The presentation also highlighted the potential for Belarusian-Turkish economic cooperation, including opportunities in agriculture, food processing, food technologies, joint production, localisation, and projects involving products with higher added value.

The International Forum of Economic Cooperation brought together representatives of government authorities, business communities and international organisations to discuss international partnerships, investment opportunities and new areas for cross-border economic cooperation. The Forum's programme included discussions on Minsk's business potential, international partnerships, investment, tourism, innovation and artificial intelligence.
