Vladimir Komarov discusses employee ownership at the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Vladimir Komarov, Managing Partner at GRATA International, led a discussion at the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry on “Transferring Business Ownership to the Team: Equity Participation as a Motivational Tool.”

The discussion addressed a question increasingly on business owners’ minds: how to give key employees a stake in the business so they feel like partners, while retaining control over the company.

Participants explored approaches ranging from profit-sharing and share options to shareholders’ agreements and phased buyouts, alongside exit provisions and mechanisms designed to prevent shareholder disputes.

The key takeaway: employee ownership is more than a way to motivate the team - it is a practical component of a business’s succession and growth strategy.
