Hanza is a Partner of NARA Law and co-leads the Dispute Resolutions & Insolvency Practice Group.
His principal area of practice cuts across all aspects of commercial litigation, criminal law, insolvency and antitrust matters. He specialises in representing clients in disputes arising from breach of contract, tort, fraud, fiduciary duties, shareholders' dispute, defamation, general asset recovery, infringement of intellectual property and land law.
With more than a decade of experience as a dispute resolution lawyer in the litigation arena, Hanza regularly acted for local and foreign clients in disputes and bankruptcy matters in banking, finance, aviation, manufacturing, healthcare, trading and logistics sectors. Hanza has represented numerous expatriate and institutional clients in large-scale disputes in all levels of adjudication proceedings, from the first instance court at the District Court, and the High Court in various regions in Indonesia, up to to the final stage at the Supreme Court. He also helped clients negotiate out-of-court settlements to reach amicable settlement between the disputing parties.
As an insolvency specialist licensed to act as Receiver and Administrator for Bankruptcy, some of the cases he has been involved in include acting for a high net worth individual and the owner of a well-known local airline in the bankruptcy proceeding of the said airline, comprising complicated asset disputes and conflicts between the client's internal stakeholders in the process. Hanza was also a lead counsel for a Japanese bank in the submission of a suspension of debt payment obligations petition of a property developer and multi-finance companies, and recently acted for a major Japan-Malaysia joint venture company engaging in flour milling business in a tort lawsuit.
His practice also includes other non-contentious aspects of advising on all aspects of employment law, such as drafting of employment contracts, advising on manpower licensing and regulatory compliance, termination of employment and retrenchment, as well as employment disputes, outsourcing and stakeholder engagement strategies related to the enforcement of the Indonesian manpower regulations.
Hanza is known for his astute tactics, walk-the-extra-mile approach, strong business acumen, and proven understanding of the intricacies of litigation at all stages of court proceedings, while also being very pragmatic about resolving the conflicts and actively encourage alternative means of dispute resolution.
