Akzhan is a Partner at GRATA International China Office with a strong cross-border practice focused on Chinese investment projects in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
She has an extensive legal experience in provision of legal services in the spheres of Corporate Law, Labour Law, Anti-trust Law, Contract Law, Construction and Infrastructure, as well as the Acting Law of the AIFC and representation of the client’s interests in the courts of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the AIFC.
At the GRATA International China Office, Akzhan oversees a team of 9 legal specialists, providing strategic direction, supervising day-to-day legal work and maintaining consistency and excellence in the legal services.
She has acted on major renewable energy, mining, industrial, and infrastructure projects in Kazakhstan, including large-scale wind and solar developments, mineral resource acquisitions, international financings by Chinese policy banks, EPC projects, and the construction and operation of strategic production facilities.
Akzhan is a graduate of the University of Edinburgh Law School, and prior to joining GRATA International, practiced as part of the legal teams at international Kazakhstani law firms, private companies and at a corporate finance advisory in London, UK. Within the Legal Support Department of the AIFC Authority, she played a substantial role in the development of the AIFC Law Pro Bono Office and contributed to the AIFC Law development.
