The United Arab Emirates (UAE) comprises of seven emirates; Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman, Umm al Qaiwain and Fujairah.

The Emirate of Dubai is one of the most preferred destinations globally due to its long-standing position as the Middle East hub for regional and international business. Dubai is popularly known for being one of the most luxurious cities, with modern infrastructure, ultra-modern buildings and architecture including the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world (828m!), the world’s only 7-star hotel, the World’s biggest man-made island, the world’s biggest shopping mall, the world’s tallest building, and state-of-the-art developments, etc.

The UAE continues to maintain its status as the ideal destination for foreigners and offers enticing investment opportunities. The UAE has a thriving expat community owing to the following reasons:

politically stable
strong economy and positive outlook
best trading hub in the Middle East region
international financial centres with modern legal systems (ADGM and DIFC)
attractive real estate and property market
technology and sustainability friendly
burgeoning business opportunities
multiculturalism and tolerance
job opportunities
high standard of living
popular destination for tourists

To deal with its complexities, the UAE has robust legal system which promotes incorporation of justice from the root level. The UAE legal system is a federal constitutional system, also giving each Emirate the freedom to enact their own respective regulations to address local matters including real estate, business activities, free zones and much more.

In addition to main land and free zones, both the Emirates of Abu Dhabi and Dubai offer licensing in financial free zones, such as the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) and the Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC). In both financial zones, the two Emirates apply special laws that are derived from the English law (or common law system). Both zones also have their own courts where judgments issued by these courts are enforceable and recognized in the main land of the UAE.
