Cyberattacks remain an increasing threat across all critical infrastructure sectors in Kazakhstan. Threat to the various industries has increased dramatically along with the sophistication of cyberattacks.

On 31 July 2018, the Federal Service for Supervision in the area of communications, information technology and mass communications (Roskomnadzor) held a traditional Open Day coincided to the anniversary of adoption of the Federal Law No. 152-FZ 'On Personal Data' ('Personal Data Law').

In Civil Law and Common Law System, the fundamental of the compensation are separated from each other. In Civil Law System, the punishment of person or persons who cause harm and the prevention of similar behaviour are the adopted remark in determining the compensation of competition law. Meanwhile in Common Law, the logic of compensation for damage, adopted comment in the determination of compensation.

Over the past 25 years Kazakhstan has developed its own financial sector, which is considered to be the most advanced in Central Asia. With the evolution of financial sector and the complexities of key players involved, the need for regulation of dealing with data arose.

In May 2016, General Data Protection Regulation was published in the Official Journal of the European Union. Everybody who has an establishment within the EU and process personal data in the context of the activities of such establishment will have to get ready for the new Regulation.

On 27 January 2017, the State Duma passed in the final reading the bill on amendments to the Code of Administrative Violations (hereinafter - the 'Administrative Code'). The bill is aimed at enhancing the administrative liability for violation of the procedure for collection, storage, use or dissemination of information on citizens (personal data) established by the Russian Federation.
