On 17 September 2026, Dr. Gulnur Nurkeyeva, Managing Partner and Head of China Office at GRATA International, participated as a panelist at the 2026 BAC/BIAC & Vienna International Arbitral Centre (VIAC) Joint Conference in Beijing.

The conference, titled “The Pain of Transitioning Between Old and New Energy: Long-term Contract Disputes in Global Mineral Investments and Green Energy Infrastructure,” brought together leading arbitration practitioners, in-house counsel and industry experts to discuss legal issues arising from the global energy transition.

Dr. Gulnur Nurkeyeva spoke on the panel “Beyond Commercial Contracts: ESG, Regulatory Measures and Investment Protection Risks in the Energy Transition.” The discussion focused on the impact of ESG requirements and regulatory changes on energy investments, investor protection issues, and dispute resolution risks in cross-border energy and infrastructure projects.

The joint BAC/BIAC and VIAC conference provided an important platform for professional dialogue between the Chinese and international arbitration communities on developments in the energy sector and the associated legal risks.
